Mon Dec 14, 2009, 3:28 PM
WOW!!! :wow: I just found out that I've won that Cafedirect teatowel competition i talked about a while ago!!! Ahhhaaahahaaa... how awesome is that?! They're printing 1000 copies of the teatowel and i get sent a years supply of tea/coffee!! I'm also going to go to their offices once its printed to see it and take a few photos with them!! Aaahhh - this is so COOOOL!!!

This was my entry: [link] They say they want to change the colours a bit for screen printing but at this point i don't really mind!! I'm just so excited about it!!! :D :D

I've been working so long on these kind of things that i never really thought anything would come of it! So happy to be proved wrong! :w00t:

A quick thank you and update

Mon Nov 16, 2009, 2:17 AM
Thanks to any of you that voted for ChartJackers after my last journal entry - they managed to climb the charts to #36, which may not sound like much, but considering they didn't get ANY radio time here in the UK its pretty unbelievable that they even made the charts! Especially when they were up against Britney Spears and Leona Lewis' new singles. I was so determined to help them i even got my parents to buy it three times between them! SO i'm really glad they did well and raised a load of money for charity! :w00t:

I've nearly finished my design for the Cafedirect teatowel competition (see previous journals) and i'm really happy with it. Even if I don't win the competition its a great piece of work to have for a future portfolio.

I'm starting a two week slot of work in a fortnight. I really need money and experience (at anything, including an admin job like this one) so this bit of work will be perfect for me. It is two full weeks of work though (weekends and overtime included) so i think i might be a bit dead after its over. :faint: But i just found out my friend is starting the same job on the same day so at least we can help eachother through it! :highfive:

Hope the weather where you are is better than it is here - wind and rain (and i have to go out in it this afternoon!) :shakefist:

CHARTJACKERS!!

Thu Nov 12, 2009, 4:58 AM
 Ok, so I have a favour to ask of you, my lovely subscribers.

There's this amazing Youtube created project called ChartJackers where four Youtube users have, with the help of other internet people, created a single for Children In Need (a UK charity) [link] . Whilst also trying to raise as much money for the charity as possible, they are, as their name suggests, trying to place highly in the UK singles chart this week (which is an incredibly hard thing to do without help). At the moment they are holding on by the skin of their teeth (never understood that saying :giggle:) at number 39 (of 40).

So basically i'm asking you, if you have the means/time/inclination to do so, to buy Chartjackers' very cute but also very cheesy single, 'I've Got Nothing', for £0.79 from iTunes or encourage your UK based friends to do so if they can! Only UK sales count towards the charts unfortunately, but money from sales outside the UK also goes to Children In Need!

So why should you bother? Well, to be honest, i wouldn't be too crazy to help them if it wasn't benefitting charity, but it is. I also think this project is such a good way to show the positive things that come from the internet and the higher they place in the charts the more good publicity this internet created good deed will get!

So anyway, thanks for reading!

Cafedirect tea towel competition!

Thu Oct 29, 2009, 3:58 AM
I have a friend who works on the Cafedirect website and she asked if i could post info about their new competition on deviantART - just to get a few more people involved. Its a competition to design a new tea towel for them (to be sold in their online shop) and the winner will receive a year's supply of tea, coffee and hot chocolate!!

Here's a link to their blog: [link] (and Terms and Conditions: [link]) (And its only open to UK applicants, i think)

So if anyone is looking for something fun to design why not give this a shot? :D

I'm going to!
